Pardis Pozenjani, the program professional overseeing inclement‑weather contracts, reported that outreach and sheltering efforts since November had required searching for available shelter beds on 60 days through January and daily searches so far in February. Staff reported inclement‑weather spending of roughly $171,000 for November–December and expected about $160,000 for January based on reported days of activation.
Pozenjani said the proposed $220,000 amendment would allocate approximately $70,000 to the Way Out Center (TSA), $120,000 to Catholic Charities for House of Charity and St. Margaret’s, and $30,000 to Revive. Staff said they were not seeking additional funding for Volunteers of America because VOA’s current allotment was sufficient for February and part of March.
Committee members asked whether the amendment would be added on top of the $800,000 or taken from it; staff clarified the $220,000 would be moved from the existing $800,000 allocation for inclement weather. No formal council action was recorded during the briefing; staff said they would pursue the contract amendment through the city's procurement and budgeting process.
