The Rockbridge County Board of Supervisors voted Feb. 10 to pay $409,208.69 in bills and approved an additional appropriation of $8,490 to cover insurance reimbursements to the sheriff’s office.
County financial staff presented the monthly report and noted fiscal-year-to-date general fund revenues of about $40.436 million and expenditures of $39.897 million, leaving a positive variance of roughly $539,000 through Jan. 31. Staff reported that 58% of the fiscal year had elapsed and highlighted key revenue categories: sales tax at about $3.153 million (59% of budget), meals tax and lodging tax performance (lodging tax described as plateaued at 51% of budget), and motor-vehicle-related license fee changes that affected revenue presentation. Staff also warned that personal property assessments tied to new vision software have seen delays and recommended flexibility for the schedule of initial FY26 budget meetings.
Supervisor Lyons moved to adopt the proposed resolution authorizing payment of bills and the appropriation; the motion passed on a 5–0 roll call.
The board acknowledged a one-time timing difference in property-tax collections and noted the finance committee will continue work on the FY26 budget with further meetings scheduled.
