Board renews Twin Peaks Classical Academy charter for five years

The St. Vrain Valley School District Board of Education on Jan. 22 voted to renew Twin Peaks Classical Academy’s charter for five years after the district’s Accountability and Assessment Committee recommended renewal.
Jamie Ball, the district liaison to the accountability committee, told the board the committee reviewed Twin Peaks’ renewal application in December and January and recommended a five‑year renewal.
Joe Meslaine, who identified himself as the executive director at Twin Peaks Classical Academy, described the school’s classical education approach and said the school has strengthened its financial reserves and governance. "Our vision is that Twin Peaks Classical Academy provides an academically rigorous environment that encourages students to seek truth, beauty, goodness, in both their acquisition of knowledge and their development of character," Meslaine said.
Meslaine introduced incoming executive director Alicia Burns and board leaders who were present. He described program elements including a K–12 classical curriculum, Latin instruction at elementary and secondary levels, and a focus on literacy and numeracy. He also acknowledged challenges at the elementary level on some growth measures and said the school is allocating additional elementary resources—literacy staff, English‑learner support and targeted intervention—to address those areas.
After the board discussion, a motion to approve the five‑year charter renewal passed by roll call. Voting recorded: Mr. Berthold—Yes; Mrs. Babs—Yes; Mrs. Gilligan—Yes; Mrs. Hranick—Yes; Mr. Lechuga—Absent; Mrs. Ragland—Aye; Mrs. Weiss—Yes.
The renewal authorizes Twin Peaks Classical Academy to operate within the district for the next five years under the terms of its charter; the resolution and renewal documentation will be part of the district’s charter records.
