The Traffic & Parking Commission approved removing the paid valet designation at 1418 Church Street after a representative for EndOut told the panel the business had decided not to continue the service.
Emmanuel Matias, speaking for EndOut, said the company "decided not to go with valet anymore" and asked the commission to revoke the existing designation so signs and the associated paid zone could be removed. Staff noted the permit for the valet ended at the end of February 2024.
Commissioners asked whether the curb segment would revert to on-street parking or be converted for passenger drop-off. Matias said the business preferred not to make permanent curb changes immediately; staff and the engineering team will inspect the location and return to the commission with options. One commissioner mentioned a large clinical research site across the street and suggested a passenger drop-off could be appropriate.
A motion to approve the revocation was made, seconded and passed by voice vote. No roll-call tally or timeline for removing signage was recorded in the meeting audio.
Staff said they will evaluate the curb and coordinate with engineering on whether to replace the valet zone with standard on-street parking, a passenger drop-off, or some other treatment and will return with recommendations if changes are proposed.
