Caldwell County Schools recognizes students and staff for arts, civic character and teaching achievements

At its Feb. 10 meeting the Caldwell County Board of Education honored dozens of students for artwork, character traits, choral selections, and announced a Presidential Scholars nominee and several National Board teacher certifications.
Caldwell County Schools used its Feb. 10 meeting to recognize student artwork, civic character winners, chorus selections and several staff and student honors.
Chief Information Officer Nathan Pope presented the art gallery selections from Baynton Elementary, Gainwell Elementary and Gainwell Middle School and called students to the front to be recognized. The board also honored students who displayed exemplary civic character traits in December and January and announced winners of the district'wide holiday art contest for elementary, middle and high school levels.
District staff announced nine students selected for the North Carolina Honors Chorus across elementary, middle and high school levels and named Caldwell Early College High School student Joanna Hinman as the district'level nominee for the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program. The board also recognized teachers who recently earned National Board Certification and one educator for certification from the International Society for Technology in Education; the superintendent noted that certification is the first of its kind in Caldwell County Schools.
The recognitions included many individual student names, their grade levels and home schools; district representatives invited parents to photograph the honorees and applauded their achievements. No formal board votes were taken for the recognitions beyond the agenda item, and the session moved on to the business meeting after the presentations.
