Council President Ms. Bowers notified members that two council appointees are needed for the Community Grant Program review committee and that the administration would like appointments made quickly so the grant cycle can proceed.
Director Weibensinger (Deputy/Director role referenced) said the program is transitioning from ARPA funding to local dollars and the administration is revamping the program while keeping main priorities. He said the target go‑live date for the grant application is April 2025, with roughly two to three weeks for nonprofits to apply and a committee review in early May. The selection committee will expand to five reviewers this year and review meetings generally require two to three hours at a time during business hours.
Bowers said council could discuss appointments in executive session at the next council meeting to fill the two short‑term, one‑year positions; Weibensinger asked that appointments be made sooner rather than later so the administration can proceed with the program timeline.
No formal vote was recorded in committee; staff intends to present a year‑end report to council on March 24 and address non‑tax revenue options to support the program.
