Advocates push council to pair Disabilities Commission with Human Relations Commission; staff to present plan Feb. 12

Lewin said she and others have met with council field representatives and that the Human Relations Commission will hear a presentation on Feb. 12. "We are fully on board and deeply appreciate the opportunity to collaborate on this effort," Lewin said.
Luce (full name not provided in the record), a supporter present at the meeting, said organizers have received calls from community members who are eager to participate and that they look forward to presenting a detailed plan to staff and commissioners.
City staff and councilmembers thanked the advocates and indicated the next steps: the Human Relations Commission will consider the plan on Feb. 12 and staff will return to the council with recommendations for commission alignment and application processes.
No ordinance or formal action was taken at the Feb. 4 meeting; the item remains under review and will be scheduled for further consideration following the Human Relations Commission discussion.
