Votes at a glance: Olive Branch aldermen approve soccer-complex bid, airport site work, equipment and utility contracts

Olive Branch — The Olive Branch Board of Aldermen approved a series of bids, professional services agreements and change orders during its Feb. 4 meeting, moving forward with park improvements, airport infrastructure, public-works equipment and utility system design.

The board voted to accept the low bid for Phase 2 of the George Harrison Soccer Complex in the amount of $4,539,340.56 and to fund that bond with the city's 1% tourism hotel-motel tax. City staff said the Phase 2 work will add four soccer fields, two of which will be lighted, new parking, restrooms and a concession stand.

Other approvals included a $1,500,000 allocation for a corporate hangar (funding the hangar project with state-provided dollars), a master professional-services agreement with Garver LLC for airport development site work in the amount of $224,190 (federal grant funds cited), and a construction engineering and inspection contract with Fisher and Arnold Inc. for $165,620.60 for a multiuse path along Church Road.
