Resident asks trustees for trash-service exemption; staff says system has no exemptions

Gordon Banks of 414 Jewels Drive addressed the Board of Trustees during public comment and asked for an exemption from a new town trash-service arrangement that will change providers next month. Banks told trustees he currently does not have trash service and uses composting and his mother’s bin; he said he should not be required to pay for curbside service he does not use.
“...I would be paying for trash service even if I don't want it,” Banks said.
Staff told him the system is not built to allow exemptions and suggested he discuss alternatives with town staff. No formal action was taken; trustees invited the resident to speak with staff about options.
The board also noted it will allow public comment on two agenda items (the Special Events Task Force recommendations and the Mobility and Access Plan) during their hearings on those items.
