Solomon said the devices are waterproof, modular and typically cost about $30,000 including installation, a graphic wrap and the first year of maintenance. He estimated initial staff impact at about one trip per day to load lockers and retrieve uncollected items; holds and pick‑up rates would be tracked through the library management system.
Mayor Pro Tem Hidalgo Faring and others said the Centennial Pool site was selected for its proximity to schools and existing foot traffic and because city property simplifies siting logistics; councilors also discussed other potential locations and the idea of requiring lockers as part of some new developments. The motion to fund the pilot from council contingency passed unanimously.
