Council adopts resolution joining countywide Northwest Illinois safety plan

The Freeport City Council passed a resolution stating the city is part of a broader Northwest Illinois safety action plan that Stephenson County is submitting as part of a regional Safe Streets for All (SS4A) application.
Darren (staff) told the council the county program covers multiple counties and that Freeport’s city manager sits on the county’s technical team. “This is no cost to us or anything else. It's just being part of the county's program,” Darren said.
Council members moved and seconded the resolution and approved it by voice vote. Council members were told the county’s plan is nearing completion and that being a participating jurisdiction would ensure Freeport is represented if the county pursues implementation funding.
