Mayor reports sheltering dozens during cold nights; city says shelter remains open

Mayor Graham updated the council on sheltering activity after an outreach introduction from Brian McCamp in the Mayor's Office. The mayor said the city sheltered 72 individuals on the first night, 68 on the second night and 75 the most recent night, and that the coldest night the shelter remained active to house residents.
"The coldest night, the shelter is still, actively housing people, and we'll do so until tomorrow," Mayor Graham said. The mayor said an email with client counts had been circulated to councilors earlier in the day.
Brian McCamp opened the work session with community announcements that included the shelter update and several Parks and Recreation registration reminders; McCamp provided contact and registration information for adult swim lessons and other programs. The council did not take formal action on the shelter update at the work session.
