The proposal would restrict fireworks use from year-round to specific days — Fourth of July, Veterans Day and New Year’s Day — while allowing a permit process for single-day special events, City Administrator Brian Ring said. Ring said the draft also adds wording to let the city respond to National Weather Service red flag or fire danger warnings and to grant joint authority to the city manager, the fire chief and the police chief to curtail use when local conditions warrant.
