The Yelm Planning Commission opened a public hearing on proposed updates to the city’s Unified Development Code (UDC) at 4:02 p.m. on Feb. 10 and closed the hearing at 4:04 p.m. after hearing no public testimony.
Commissioner Dana Allen moved “to approve the amendments as written,” but the motion received no second and therefore did not advance to a vote. Commission discussion during the session and the staff packet indicated two substantive edits from earlier drafts: a proposed requirement that new structures provide an entrance on Yelm Avenue if the building fronts that street was removed, and on-site bicycle-parking requirements for new commercial and residential development were removed from the draft.
Commission members indicated the commission will forward the code changes and supporting materials to the City Council for its review at the council meeting later in the month. No formal adoption of UDC amendments by the Planning Commission was recorded at this meeting.
Because the hearing drew no public testimony, the record remains the staff report and the consultants’ materials posted on the city website. The city will post when the item is scheduled for City Council consideration.
