The Verona Area School District Board of Education approved revised language for the Board of Education appointment process (policy GC10) and held a first reading on a change to the superintendent evaluation calendar (BSR5).
On GC10, board members voted to adopt updated candidate application language after a second reading. The motion to approve the revised appointment policy was moved and seconded on the record; the board approved the policy by voice vote with no opposition recorded.
Separately, administrators presented a first reading to change the language in BSR5, which deals with the superintendent evaluation schedule. The language originally specified conducting the evaluation in October; administration and legal counsel proposed switching the phrasing to conduct the evaluation “each year” to provide flexibility in scheduling. The change was presented as a first reading; the board will consider a second reading and vote at a future meeting.
Board members were invited to submit feedback on the BSR5 language ahead of the second reading. Administrators said the change aims to allow the board and superintendent to select evaluation dates that align with monitoring and reporting schedules.
