City council appoints Michael Mosley to fill Ward 2 seat; Mosley sworn in

The Bloomington City Council unanimously approved Mayor Milliwampine’s appointment of Michael Mosley to fill the Ward 2 council seat and then administered the oath of office.
Mayor Milliwampine introduced Michael Mosley as her nominee for the Ward 2 seat after former Council member Boland stepped down. The mayor said Mosley “consistently ranked in the top 3” among applicants and described him as “a man of character and integrity” with experience coaching at Bloomington High School.
Councilman Motney made the motion to approve the mayor’s request; the motion was seconded by Council member Hendricks. The council voted electronically and the mayor announced a unanimous approval. Mosley was then sworn in by repeating the oath of office administered at the dais.
After the oath, Mosley thanked council members for their participation in the process and acknowledged family and supporters in the audience. Mayor Milliwampine and other council members welcomed him and noted plans to involve other applicants in city service where possible.
The appointment fills the Ward 2 seat and took effect immediately following the swearing-in.
Less critical details: The mayor said she had solicited councilmembers’ top-three candidate lists during the selection process and that Mosley had been a recurring pick among councilmembers and community members.
