The Wheatland City Council approved multiple formal actions during its meeting, including two ordinances on third and final reading, a vendor contract for landfill environmental monitoring, a resolution supporting a water feasibility study application and authorization for the mayor to finalize a loan application for a ladder truck for the fire department.
Ordinances: The council approved Ordinance 8 53 on third reading, described in the agenda as an update to Wheatley Mills Road uses requiring a special-use permit. Council members said there were no changes since the second reading and moved, seconded and approved the ordinance on a voice vote. The council also approved Ordinance 8 54 on third reading, a rezoning of multiple properties intended to “clean up and bring everything to the level playing field,” according to a council member; that motion likewise passed on voice vote.
Contracts and resolutions: The council accepted a cost proposal from TriHydro Corporation to provide environmental monitoring and reporting at the town’s old landfill cap. A council member stated the 2025 proposal was roughly “$446 lower than for 2024” during the discussion. The council approved the TriHydro proposal by motion.
The council also adopted Resolution No. 03-2025 supporting an application to the WWDC for a level-2 feasibility study related to replacement or siting of additional wells after a previously denied level-3 construction grant. Staff described the process as a long application and consultant-selection sequence with no local match required for the feasibility study; staff said a test well drilling component would be included and that successful study work would position the town for a future funding round.
Loan authorization: Council members moved, seconded and approved a motion giving the mayor authority to finalize and sign the loan application for purchase of a ladder truck for the fire department.
The meeting record shows motions were moved, seconded and carried by voice vote for these items; the record does not include roll-call tallies for those voice votes.
