Richard Kreider, Monroe County building and fleet manager, opened public bids Thursday for a renovation of Suite 109 that will convert office space into a county health clinic.
Kreider said the county issued bid documents Jan. 14, held a pre-bid meeting Jan. 24, and set a Jan. 29 second notice. Bids were due at 10 a.m. the day of the work session and were opened in the county legal department.
Kreider read five base bids aloud: Fox Construction (Bloomington) — $159,980; Strauser Construction (Bloomington) — $142,540; Bolden Construction Group (Bloomington) — $138,000 (submitted in two envelopes, which staff noted and did not open); Weddell Brothers Building Group (Bloomington) — $155,000; Building Associates Inc. (Bloomington) — $130,700. Kreider said there were no alternates on the bids.
County staff present said they will review the paperwork and the bids and bring a recommendation back to the commissioners. The board reached consensus to take the bids under advisement for further review rather than awarding the contract at the work session.
No formal award or contract was approved at the work session; staff said they will return with a recommendation for a future meeting.
