Shawnee Heights recognizes staff who completed Quantum Learning site-facilitator training

At the start of the meeting the board recognized a cohort of staff who completed Quantum Learning site-facilitator training designed to support the district's "quantum" character-development initiative.
Why it matters: Trained site facilitators will lead adult- and youth-track activities, support summer camp and provide school-day professional development intended to extend the district's character-development curriculum and support student social-emotional learning.
District staff described the training and named participants. A staff presenter read a prepared recognition from the director of Quantum Learning: "The Quantum Learning site facilitator and training program focuses on the deep implementation and facilitation of Quantum Learning's met foundations. Throughout this training sequence site facilitators embody, apply and facilitate the Quantum Learning curriculum, including building strong rapport, implementing theoretical models for transformational experiences, communication strategies, and building and learning a cohesive team and community. We would like to proudly recognize the commitment and accomplishments of our site facilitators and acknowledge their outstanding progress." The presenter then named staff who completed varying combinations of camp support, site-facilitator level 1 training and follow-up training.
Names and training summaries provided in the meeting record included (as spoken by the presenter): Caitlin Bruns (Barrington) — adult track; listed as completing 45 hours of site-facilitator level-1 training plus follow-up (85 hours total described). Linda Dishman — youth facilitator; cited as completing 30 hours of camp support, 45 hours of site-facilitator level 1 and 40 hours of follow-up training. Jody Medina (middle school) — participated in adult facilitator and student camp work (30 hours camp support, 45 hours site-facilitator level training, 40 hours follow-up). Beth Baldwin — youth facilitator (30 hours camp support, 45 hours site-facilitator level 1, 40 hours follow-up). Alyssa Metcalfe — student facilitator (45 hours site level 1 and 40 hours follow-up). Becky Hummer — adult track with 30 hours camp support, 45 hours site-facilitator training, 40 hours follow-up and additional follow-up coordination work. Dr. Laura Herla (named in the record) was acknowledged for organizing training into manageable sessions for staff and also completed facilitator-level training for the adult track.
Staff said these facilitators will support quantum days at the start of the school year, follow-up days in buildings and a possible quantum summer camp in the coming summer.
