Mrs. Bell, presenting the item, said the course will be taught on site by an Allen County instructor and will satisfy the district communications requirement while also granting three college credits. The course is intended for students who prefer a communications curriculum focused on interpersonal skills rather than public speaking; students may still select traditional public speaking for the communications requirement.
Motion and vote: The board approved the addition of the dual‑credit interpersonal communications course for the fall term. The motion was moved by Christie and seconded by Christina Fleming; the vote was 6–0.
Mrs. Bell said the new offering provides another option for students to earn the required communications credit and that counselors will include the course in fall enrollment materials.
