Staff noted the program emphasizes at‑risk families who might not otherwise have access to books and shared language experiences tied to pre‑K classroom themes.
Motion and vote: The motion to approve submission and possible acceptance of the grant application was moved by Sarah Daugherty and seconded by Christina Fleming; the board voted 6–0 in favor.
Board discussion was limited to clarifying that the program targets pre‑K and early‑childhood activities and that the district had not yet received official notice of award at the time of the meeting.
