Parent urges board to create county pickup points to boost Tennyson Elementary enrollment

Rebecca Boswell told the Warrick County School Corporation board at its Feb. 10 meeting that the district should consider establishing central pickup points in Booneville, Newberg and Sullivan to allow families outside the Tennyson attendance area to ride a dedicated bus directly to Tennyson Elementary.
“This would allow parents to drop their student off at this specified location and time, and that bus would drive directly to Tennyson Elementary for the day,” Boswell said during the patrons concerns portion of the meeting. She said direct routes would keep travel time short and that the plan could help Tennyson boost enrollment without changing district boundaries.
Boswell suggested the board create a few new bus routes dedicated to Tennyson Elementary and said the district should notify potential families as soon as possible so parents can decide before next school‑year enrollment deadlines. She recommended sending a flyer in every student’s backpack and posting information on appropriate websites to reach interested families. At the end of her remarks Boswell identified herself as a Tennyson TBT member and offered to participate in further discussions.
The suggestion was given during public comment and no formal board action was recorded on the topic at the meeting.
