The Board of Education voted 7-0 to adopt academic calendar option B for the 2026–27 school year after the teachers’ association recommended that option.
District staff told the board that 53.9% of teachers who cast ballots selected option B. Board members raised concerns about survey turnout: roughly 200 teachers participated in a staff population of about 600, and trustees asked the association and staff to add open comment options to future calendar surveys to capture reasons for preferences.
Administrators and calendar committee members said the district’s goal is to plan farther in advance by producing two years of calendars; the committee began work in September and presented the second-year option to the association. Trustees thanked the team and noted the low response rate could reflect timing (survey period fell near winter break and a snow week) and staff turnover.
The motion to adopt calendar option B was moved, seconded and approved without amendment. Staff said routine implementation and communication steps will follow the vote.
