Haysville board hires Hutton as construction manager at risk for April bond plan

"That team is excellent, and, we'll continue the work that we've come done through the facilities assessment piece of it, to help you guys tackle the important issues you've got in front of you," said Bridal Rowley, vice president, lead of Hutton's Wichita area office, after the company’s interview with the district.
Why it matters: Hutton will join the district’s architect (Alloy) and staff to complete community outreach before the April election and to begin pre-construction planning immediately if the bond is approved. The board said the CMAR will assist with committee meetings, information materials for voters and early construction-phase cost and schedule planning.
What the board heard: Craig (staff member) summarized the CMAR-selection process, saying the district used a construction-manager-at-risk procurement process with a scored interview and selection committee that included two board members and district staff. He said three firms interviewed and Hutton scored highest on the district’s official score sheet.
Board action: Jennifer Bayne moved to approve Hutton as the CMAR; the motion was seconded and carried 5-0. Speakers thanked the selection committee, the architect and district staff for guiding the procurement.
Next steps: The board and staff said they will begin election outreach and finalize a CMAR contract to allow immediate engagement with the bond committee and the architect if voters approve the measure.
