During the Jan. 7 work session, the council conducted advice-and-consent interviews for two mayoral appointments: David Buchanan as chief human resources officer and Tammy Hunsaker as director of the Community and Neighborhoods Department.
Buchanan summarized his background in human-resources leadership in private industry and his work since 2019 with the city, including his tenure as deputy director in the HR department. Several council members welcomed him and praised HR as a critical city function; no formal confirmation vote occurred during the work session. Council staff indicated Buchanan will be placed on the consent agenda at the evening formal meeting for confirmation.
Tammy Hunsaker described her planning background and municipal experience, including work in housing and with the RDA and said she had served as deputy director in the department for three years. Council members expressed support and thanked her for long-standing city leadership; as with Buchanan, council staff said Hunsaker\'s confirmation will be placed on the formal meeting agenda.
Both briefings were informational and advisory; the council will consider formal confirmations at the evening meeting.
