Principal Randall Bauer told trustees that CY Middle School emphasizes culture and student engagement as the foundation for academic success. "Test scores are a byproduct of what we do at our building. CY is about culture. It's about family," Bauer said, describing clubs, student events and staff roles that he said help students thrive.
Fort Casper Academy head principal Nicole Sleigh described FCA's focus on high expectations, character development and specialized supports. Sleigh said FCA maintains a functional life-skills classroom, is designated an English‑language‑learner school and is a hub for braille readers. She also introduced members of her leadership team and the school’s governing council president.
District leaders and trustees used the presentations to highlight staff contributions across both schools. The board later accepted related grant awards and donations during the meeting record, including funding for classroom resources and extracurricular programs.
Board Chair Derek Christopherson and Superintendent Hensley joined trustees in thanking the school teams for the work they said supports students across the district.
The board’s next regular meeting will be held at Central Services; the district announced the next meeting is scheduled for Feb. 24 and will begin at 6:00 p.m.
