The Board accepted staff rankings for RFQ 202507 for professional design services for the Main Street Park project and authorized the town manager to negotiate and sign a contract with the selected firm.
Staff said six firms responded to the RFQ and that interviews were held with the top three. The ranked order reported to the board was Surface (first), Withers Ravenel (second) and Timmons (third). Upon board approval, staff will negotiate design services with the top‑ranked firm and return the agreed contract, or execute it if so authorized by the board’s motion to allow the manager to sign.
The town has planned $1,500,000 in the capital improvement plan for the design, engineering and construction of the park; staff also reported the town has applied to the Wake County Community Investment Partnership Program for a $250,000 grant toward the project. The board’s motion authorized the town manager to negotiate and sign a contract for professional design services.
Commissioners voted in favor of accepting the rankings and granting the town manager authority to finalize the contract by voice vote.
