The Fond du Lac Board of Education voted unanimously to adopt revisions to Policy 55.40, which governs school responses to investigations involving law enforcement and other government agencies.
Dr. Flagg told the board the revisions were recommended in response to recent executive orders and work from the district's policy provider, Neola, and outside counsel. The updated policy gives school administrators additional latitude to minimize classroom disruptions and to lead school-side responses while cooperating with law enforcement. "School administrators will not interfere with the execution of a valid warrant, which...is authorized by a judicial official," Dr. Flagg said. He added that a warrant issued by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is not a judicial warrant for schools.
Dr. Flagg and administration recommended waiving the usual two-week notice so the board could act immediately; the board voted to adopt the policy by unanimous roll call, 7–0.
The administration said it consulted attorneys to ensure the policy aligns with state law and protects the school environment while clarifying who leads on-site investigations.
