Waterville staff: electric aggregation up for renewal; county auditor meeting tentatively scheduled

City of Waterville municipal staff told the council the city’s electric aggregation agreement expires in May 2025 and that the Northwest Ohio Aggregation Coalition (NOAC) has issued a request for proposals to renew supplier services.
John (municipal administrator) said Energy Harbor is the current supplier and Toledo Edison handles electric distribution. NOAC, a coalition of 15 communities including Waterville, is reviewing proposals and staff said the coalition indicated a possible 12-month renewal term. Based on preliminary proposal pricing NOAC provided, staff said the renewal could reduce residential bills by about $9 per month and small commercial bills by about $18 per month.
John said residents will receive opt-out information if the coalition recommends renewal; customers who do not wish to participate must follow the opt-out instructions in the mailed notice. John also told councilors that Mayor Pedro is working to bring the Lucas County Auditor’s staff to Waterville for a resident information session about property valuation increases. A tentative date discussed in the transcript was March 26 for an event from noon to 7 p.m., but the date had not been confirmed at the meeting.
No council motion or vote was required for the staff report items; they were informational updates and next steps were described for outreach and scheduling.
