The City of Waterville council approved Resolution 0925 to authorize change order number 1 and pay $57,108.22 to Get Us Paving & Excavating for the 2024 city paving program.
John (municipal administrator) told the council that roughly 80% of the increase stemmed from unexpectedly deteriorated storm infrastructure that required resetting catch basins. The change order also covered additional work behind a block of buildings where staff widened alley radii and removed and reinstalled ADA ramps.
John said staff coordinated with adjacent property owners on the alley work and that neighbors would reimburse the city for a portion of the cost; the transcript does not provide the full reimbursement figure. The city’s public works staff also performed winter street-cleaning and related maintenance work, which council members thanked publicly.
Councilors moved, seconded and approved the change order authorizing payment to the contractor. The resolution formalizes additional contract payment required to complete repairs and the alley improvements.
