The Chilton County Sheriff reported several personnel moves in the jail/corrections unit and said the positions and pay changes are included in the budget.
The sheriff announced hiring of Samuel Blackman as a part‑time correctional officer, Sawyer Smith and Tyler Austin Grant as full‑time correctional officers. The sheriff also announced reclassification of Jeffrey Layton from shift supervisor to correctional officer (effective date and pay rate were in personnel paperwork) and a reclassification of Selena Patterson from transport to shift supervisor. The sheriff listed pay increases for Jonathan Morris, Steven Easterling, Robert Moses, Ricky Simmons and Robert Tucker.
The sheriff said the hires and pay changes are "budgeted" and that one staff member left the meeting early due to an emergency. No formal vote was required for the personnel announcements during the work session.
Commissioners did not vote on any personnel actions at this work session; several items will be processed through routine personnel and payroll procedures consistent with budgeted positions.
