Alpharetta council reallocates about $10 million from Northpointe Parkway to AlphaLink project

The Alpharetta City Council voted unanimously to reallocate approximately $10,000,000 in funds originally set for Northpointe Parkway to create and fund the AlphaLink project as part of the city’s TSPLOST 2 program.
Pete Ciszek (City staff) said the reallocation was made “per the direction of council at the retreat,” and that the change will remove associated federal funds from the city’s books and formally designate AlphaLink as a TSPLOST 2 project.
Council members praised the decision as an early but necessary step to secure funding for a long-range connection. “It’s a tangible start, another step in that direction to take the AlphaLoop and connect it all the way through,” one councilmember said during discussion.
A motion to approve the reallocation was moved by Mister Dorito and seconded by Mister Will; the motion passed unanimously.
Councilmembers said construction remains a long-term prospect and that the vote secures the funding necessary to keep design and right-of-way steps moving forward; no construction contracts were awarded at the meeting.
