Delegation hears bill to update Baltimore County central committee rules after council reconfiguration

Delegate Long presented House Bill 562 on Feb. 7 to update Baltimore County central committee election rules after the county council changed from seven to nine members and district representative counts shifted.
Long said the bill fixes technical inconsistencies in the statutes so central committee districts mirror current council districting. "I discovered that the Baltimore... the democratic section was out of date and needed some technical corrections," Long said, and added he has coordinated with the local delegation administrator and party officials to reflect current practice.
Long told the delegation he will offer an amendment that updates the Democratic side to match existing practice and said the Republican caucus members present agreed with the approach. There were no other substantive questions at the hearing; the measure was described as a technical update to reflect recent local government changes. The delegation concluded the hearing with the bill posted for further consideration.
