The Maryland House of Delegates on Jan. 30 in Annapolis completed routine procedural business, including the reading of the previous day’s journal, referrals of two bond initiatives to the Appropriations Committee, the reassignment of House Bill 761 to the Health and Government Operations Committee, and a motion to adjourn until Feb. 4 at 10 a.m.
Clerk business and roll call opened the evening: "Has everyone recorded their presence? If so, the clerk will take a call. There being 121 members present, the house is now in session," the clerk said as the body convened and instructed that the journal from the previous day be read. The clerk later recorded 123 members present during subsequent roll call.
The House placed Introductory House Bond Initiative No. 25 and Introductory House Bond Initiative No. 26 on referral to the Appropriations Committee. The clerk read the bond initiatives and announced the committee assignments on the floor.
Separately, the clerk announced that "House Bill 761" was reassigned to the Health and Government Operations Committee. The floor record shows the reassignment without additional debate on the merits of the bill.
Earlier in the session the deputy majority leader moved that the reading of the journal be considered; that motion was handled by unanimous consent. Toward the close of the session, the majority leader moved "that the house stand adjourned until Tuesday, February 4 at 10 a.m.," which the House accepted.
The session included several routine announcements and guest recognitions, including delegation and caucus meeting notices and a roll-call attendance count. No floor debate on the referred bond initiatives or on HB 761 is recorded in the transcript of this session.
