The Medina City Council finance committee approved an amended and restated version of Ordinance 3921, updating the city’s contract with Medina TV Services and increasing the hourly rate used for council and county meeting coverage.
Jared (identified in the meeting as the presenter) told the committee the amendment restates the 2021 agreement to combine salaries and benefits into a single wage and raises the hourly rate from $52 to $67. Committee members discussed the benefit of an amended-and-restated agreement rather than piecemeal amendments so the document remains a single, cohesive contract record.
The measure includes a requested emergency clause so the rate change can be implemented within the negotiating window and to allow the city and the Medina County Board of Commissioners time to approve and sign a corresponding agreement before month’s end. The law director reviewed and approved the contract language, the committee was told, and members noted the county commissioners had already received a draft of the proposal and would likely consider it at one of their next two meetings.
Committee members approved the amendment with the emergency clause on a voice vote; the motion carried. Committee members said the change will be forwarded to full council and then to the Medina County Board of Commissioners for final approval.
