The City of Smyrna Planning and Zoning Board at its Feb. 10 meeting voted to recommend rezoning 2201 Dixie Avenue to a light industrial conditional designation (Z25‑003) and approved the Dec. 2, 2024 meeting minutes.
Z25‑003: Board staff said the 1.2‑acre property at 2201 Dixie Avenue is currently in industrial use and had previously been rezoned MU conditional in 2019. The current applicant, Gordon Brands, asked the board to rezone the parcel to light industrial conditional to reflect a revised site plan and to continue industrial use. Staff noted the rezoning would carry over prior right‑of‑way dedications and require a building permit for new structures; the structural integrity of existing buildings must be inspected by the fire marshal and building inspectors.
Gordon Brands (property owner/applicant) appeared and said the request is to accommodate an additional structure. No members of the public spoke for or against the application. A motion to approve Z25‑003 as presented passed unanimously 6–0.
Minutes: The board then considered approval of the minutes from the Planning and Zoning meeting on Dec. 2, 2024. The board voted to approve the minutes; the transcript records one abstention and the remainder in favor.
