House committees set briefings, hearings; delegations and caucuses schedule meetings during session week
Summary
Committee chairs announced a slate of briefings and bill hearings across appropriations, judiciary, environment and transportation, ways and means, economic matters, health and government operations and subcommittees; several county delegations and caucuses also posted meeting times.
Members of the Maryland House received floor announcements about committee briefings and upcoming hearings and about delegation and caucus meetings scheduled during the week.
The Appropriations Committee announced a briefing at 2:30 p.m. in the Joint Hearing Room with Judiciary, with additional subcommittee notices to follow. Judiciary announced an 11 a.m. bill hearing session and said it would join Appropriations at 2:30 p.m. in the Joint Committee Hearing Room in the DLS Building. The Environment and Transportation Committee announced a 1 p.m. briefing on renter-tenant issues and matters related to the Department of Natural Resources and a 2 p.m. briefing the following day on avian flu followed by bill hearings.
Ways and Means said it would meet at 1 p.m. for bill hearings. Economic Matters scheduled an 11 a.m. briefing from the Department of Legislative Services on fiscal status and a 1 p.m. bill hearing session. The Health and Government Operations Committee scheduled a 1 p.m. briefing and bill hearings and noted voting tomorrow.
Subcommittees and county delegations also posted times: the Appropriations education and economic development subcommittee, the public safety administration subcommittee, transportation and environment subcommittee, and county delegations for Anne Arundel, Frederick, Montgomery, Baltimore City, Charles County and others announced meetings, many to be held virtually. Several caucuses (Latino, Jewish, LGBTQ+, Transit, Women’s caucus) also announced events and membership deadlines.
