Toledo council approves pool shade concrete contract, passes warrants and moves to executive session

The Toledo City Council on Monday approved several items of new business, including a $23,500 contract to Oak Leaf Construction and Electrical to install concrete for new shade structures at the municipal pool, approved the city's warrants for the period and voted to go into executive session to discuss personnel and collective bargaining matters.

On item 25C-0052 the council approved "the contract for the installation of concrete for the new shade structures at the pool to Oak Leaf Construction and Electrical for the amount of $23,500," as moved on the record. A councilmember who supported the motion said the group had "talked about this and agreed to it, and I appreciate Hillary's always due diligence as far as researching this new company and feeling comfortable with what they're going to do." The motion passed by roll call; councilmembers present voted yes.

The council also approved the warrants (item 25C-0053). During discussion a councilmember noted vendor Compass Minerals on the bills and raised a procedural question about meeting with staff before the meeting; no action on that question was taken. The roll call recorded the warrants motion as approved.

During the consent-agenda vote the council approved the consent agenda (item C8-25-3). Separately, council members noted a budget amendment that added $4,202.50 for Clark v. City litigation expenses, bringing litigation expenditures to $181,374.51 to date.

Finally the council moved and approved a motion to go into executive session (item 25C-0057) to discuss hiring, compensation, discipline and collective bargaining matters and to review executive-session minutes. The motion passed by roll call.
