The Verona Common Council on Feb. 10 approved three routine but consequential items: payment of bills totaling $2,391,710.59; adoption of Ordinance No. 25-1059 to amend the city's sidewalk café permit rules; and approval of the Jan. 27 meeting minutes.
Alder Helmke moved to approve payment of bills in the amount of $2,391,710.59; Alder Posey seconded. Alder Helmke noted the three largest items in the batch were $551,025 to Bonds Trust Services for principal and interest on a 2012 bond, and $385,139 to SBA Management Services for a Century Park payment. The motion passed.
On sidewalk cafés, the council considered Ordinance No. 25-1059 to amend Title 7, Chapter 14 of the City of Verona Code of Ordinances. The proposed changes clarify the application process, standards related to outdoor eating areas, lighting rules and serving of alcoholic beverages, and included review by the city attorney. Alder Tucker Long moved to approve the ordinance; Alder Posey seconded and the motion passed.
The council also approved minutes from its Jan. 27 meeting on a motion by Alder Tucker Long, seconded by Alder Helmke.
All three items were adopted without recorded opposition or abstention in the meeting discussion.
