BOISE, Idaho — The Idaho House of Representatives on Feb. 10, 2025, passed Senate Concurrent Resolution 102, authorizing a post-event review of the state’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. The House approved the resolution by roll call, 54 ayes, 12 nays and 4 abstentions.
Senate Concurrent Resolution 102 was presented by Representative (District 8), who described the review as a fact-finding effort to catalog actions taken during the pandemic and recommend improvements for future responses. “This is not meant to be a witch hunt or to, you know, put people in front of a camera,” the presenter said on the House floor, urging a constructive review that could guide future policy.
Representative (District 11) questioned why federal CARES Act funds were not specifically addressed in the resolution. Representative (District 8) replied that the sponsor’s review work contemplated only a limited general-fund impact and that “they would just use about $10,000 or less from the general fund,” but did not explain why CARES Act allocations were not explicitly included in the resolution language.
The resolution requires a post-review and recommendations but does not itself appropriate large sums beyond the limited general-fund amount referenced during debate.
