The Marine Advisory Commission recommended using design Option B for the replacement entrance signs and adopting the updated marina logo (without the anchor). The recommendation was approved by voice vote at the Feb. 10 meeting.
Commissioners reviewed two sign designs and the proposed new logos. Staff said federal grant/acquisition language and the phrase "Marine Park for use by the general public" are required on the sign under the property transfer agreement; one commissioner asked staff to double-check the original 1972 agreement language to confirm required wording.
Some commissioners said the "for use by the general public" wording strengthens the case that the marina should receive park-related funding; one commissioner asked that the city acknowledge the marina's contribution to unallocated city expenses if it is officially presented as a public park.
The commission also discussed whether the replacement signs should include the new logo with or without the anchor. Staff said sign-making timing prevented a final logo redesign in the current production run; the commission agreed to recommend Option B with one of the new, anchor-less logos.
The motion to recommend Option B for the sign passed by voice vote. Staff will deliver the recommendation to the sign vendor and confirm the precise wording required by prior property agreements.
