Staff warns of upcoming revocations for cannabis permits lacking tax/payment agreements

Staff reported a county Board of Supervisors payment program for outstanding major tax and permit-processing fees that expires in March; staff said about 130 permit holders still owe planning-department processing fees and that many earlier permits are already suspended. The department plans to send revocation referrals to the Board of Supervisors in early March for permits that remain unresolved.
Commissioners and staff discussed the economic challenges facing permit holders and the difficulty of balancing enforcement with operators’ financial constraints; staff said the board earlier authorized a payment program and that the next step will be referrals for revocation where payments or agreements have not been completed.
No formal action was taken; the update was presented as an informational report and staff indicated they will bring revocation items to the Board of Supervisors if permits remain out of compliance.
