Shippy told the committee the provision has been long-standing and said the proposed change removes TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) as a listed good-cause exemption for avoiding license suspension.
Senator Zetterfeld moved and Senator Keiser seconded that RS32137 be introduced for print; the motion carried by voice vote. Shippy said he would present details and rationale at the bill hearing; he declined to go into why TANF was removed at the committee meeting and said he would save that discussion for the full hearing.
The committee did not record roll-call tallies during the voice vote; the RS will proceed to drafting and a subsequent public hearing as part of the legislative process.
