Grandview Heights City Council adopted Resolution 05-2025 on Feb. 13 recognizing February 2025 as Black History Month.
Council member Kozak introduced the resolution, saying, “February is Black History Month, and diversity makes us stronger and smarter and should be celebrated,” and highlighted regional milestones by Black elected officials and leaders.
Several council members offered supportive remarks. Council member Smith thanked Kozak for preparing the resolution and said it was “really beautifully written.” The resolution text submitted to the council cites local and regional examples of Black public service, including past and current Black elected officials in Columbus and Franklin County.
