The House Ways and Means Committee used the Department of Revenue Administration's worksheet and Friday's presentations to accept multiple agency estimates for the committee revenue worksheet.
Committee members voted by voice to accept Fish & Game unrestricted revenue estimates, the highway fund unrestricted revenue (motor vehicle fees and road-toll projections), Medicaid recovery estimates, lottery receipts, beer-tax receipts and the liquor-transfer estimate. The committee recorded the statutory Statewide Education Property Tax (SWEPT) amount at $363.1 million per year and instructed staff to include those figures in the worksheet the committee will use to draft its revenue resolution.
Votes were taken by voice. The committee recorded a 14‑to‑0 voice vote on the Fish & Game estimates; other items were approved by similar voice votes or unanimous consent. A single member registered opposition during the SWEPT discussion, but the committee recorded the statutory number for the worksheet.
Chair and staff direction: Legislative staff will integrate the accepted numbers into the worksheet, circulate updated Excel and PDF versions to members, and include DRA ranges as working options. DRA and staff agreed to provide a historical record of past estimates since the current commissioner took office and to supply estimate‑versus‑liability comparisons once March tax returns are filed.
Ending: The committee plans additional work sessions as DRA updates monthly receipts; the accepted agency numbers will appear in a draft Ways and Means revenue resolution for future committee action.
