Rules committee corrects millage terminology, hears school-board guidance bill, and schedules transgender surgery ban and Shepherd Center plate for the floor

At a meeting of the Georgia State Senate Rules Committee, members approved a committee substitute correcting terminology in SB44, heard presentations on bills affecting school-board posting of federal guidance and emergency transport of organs, and voted to place SB39 and SB84 on the rules calendar for the next legislative day.

The committee approved, by unanimous voice vote, a committee substitute for SB44 to change the phrase “effective millage rate” to “equivalent millage rate” in multiple lines of the bill to ensure it covers all school systems, Senator Sam Watson said. “We had a small scrivener's error that legislative council brought to our attention after we passed the bill out of committee, dealing with effective rate, effective millage rate and and equivalent millage rate,” Watson said.
