Senate reads multiple bills and refers them to committees; several committee reports filed
Summary
On Feb. 7, 2025, the Idaho Senate read multiple bills on first reading and moved a range of bills to committee, and standing committees filed reports referring bills and appointments for further action.
The Idaho State Senate on Feb. 7, 2025, read a batch of bills on first reading and referred numerous bills to standing committees for consideration. Several standing-committee reports were filed and referred by the Senate secretary as routine business.
The Judiciary and Rules Committee reported that Senate Resolution 104 and Senate bills 1059, 1060, 10601, 10602, 10603, 10604 and 1065 were correctly printed; the Senate referred those bills and resolutions to committee as announced on the floor. Senate Resolution 104 was held for one legislative day and several bills were referred to State Affairs and Resources and Environment, Agriculture Affairs, and Local Government and Taxation as listed by the secretary.
The Commerce and Human Resources Committee reported House Bills 50, 52 and 56 out of committee and recommended they pass and be placed on the second-reading calendar. The Health and Welfare Committee reported House Bill 29 out of committee for second reading.
On first reading, the Senate secretary read Senate bills 1066 through 1075 and several of those were referred to the Judiciary and Rules Committee for printing. The Senate also received messages from the governor referring Dane Hardy's appointment to the Public Utilities Commission to the State Affairs Committee, and other gubernatorial appointments were set for committee consideration or held for one legislative day.
The Senate scheduled many of the referred bills for committee consideration and set several items for second or possible amendment on later calendars; specific committee assignments and the list of bill numbers were read into the record by the secretary during the session.
