Idaho lawmakers hear renewed demand for CTE capacity, faculty and industry partnerships

Kevin Campbell, budget and policy analyst with the Legislative Services Office, opened the presentation with an overview of CTE’s statewide role and funds. Joshua Whitworth, executive director of the State Board of Education and interim administrator for the CTE division, told the committee the federal grants CTE relies on remain “available,” but cautioned that “we have to be diligent about when we pull that down” and watch changing guidance.
The testimony matters because committee members pressed for specifics on where additional state money would go and how the state will ensure expanded programs actually meet employer demand. CTE officials described a mix of constraints — students, instructors and facilities — that together limit how quickly the system can add seats.
