Michigan House introduces four bills and a rules resolution, then adjourns for lack of quorum

The Michigan House of Representatives opened a brief session in which members introduced House Resolution 19 and four bills but failed to reach a quorum and adjourned until Feb. 11 at 1:30 p.m.

House Resolution 19, offered by Speaker Matt Hall, would amend the standing rules of the House of Representatives and was referred to the Committee on Government Operations. Speaker Hall also gave notice, pursuant to House Rule 41, that he will move on the next legislative day to discharge the Committee on Government Operations from further consideration of House Resolution 19.

Three members introduced bills described in the record as measures "to amend and act to regulate political activity." Representative Tisdale offered House Bill 4062, Representative Martin offered House Bill 4063, and Representative Nyer offered House Bill 4064. Each of those bills was read the first time by title and referred to the Committee on Government Operations.

Representative Veragon introduced House Bill 4065, described in the record as a bill "to amend the Michigan Liquor Control Code of 1998." That measure was read a first time by title and referred to the Committee on Regulatory Reform.

The clerk announced that the filing of bills had been reproduced and made available electronically on Wednesday, Feb. 5, and that House and Senate bills 61 through 70 were available electronically. With a quorum not present, the House adjourned until Tuesday, Feb. 11, at 1:30 p.m.
