Representatives of Diamond Valley Ranch asked the Clayton City Special Events Committee to resume a pre-COVID volunteer partnership so their residents can participate in community events.
Jason, speaking for Diamond Valley Ranch, said the program serves roughly 35 to 45 men daily and requested that the committee consider bringing them back to help with event tasks. "We would like to be considered and called upon, for any volunteership, any situation, any time, any anything," Jason said.
Why it matters: the committee relies on volunteers for set-up and break-down at concerts and for directing vendors and participants at the Fourth of July parade, the meeting record showed. Committee members said they would reach out to Diamond Valley Ranch as volunteer roles and schedules near finalization.
Committee staff described a volunteer timeline spreadsheet that lists required volunteer counts and duties at two months, one month, two weeks, one week, the day before and the day of major events. The committee said the heaviest volunteer needs are for the Fourth of July parade and that they will request volunteer commitments by the March meeting. The committee also noted they need to identify an emcee for events after longtime emcee John Bolen passed away last year.
At the meeting a woman identifying herself as Cece spoke briefly as a public commenter; no formal action followed. Committee staff said they would follow up with Diamond Valley Ranch and provide contact information once volunteer roles are further defined.
